What you do:
As a Camp Director you set up a real world environment for a period of time during the summer, a haven for youth to engage and explorer.
Some camps offer strong educational, others extensive arts, sciences, or physical activity programs.
You interact with the children daily, you bring in staff possibly from around the world to work with these campers.
You engage in a giant social experiment, new people, activities. Setting rules and procedures and then manage all this to provide a fun summer for the campers.
The parents expect you to provide security, food and shelter, and entertainment.
They know during the summer some of a child's biggest social growth will happen, and with this they entrust you.
But underlining all this is the business of Summer Camps, not a charity but company which should be turning a profit, your campers represent sales, and new campers potentially an increase in sales.
You hire and train staff, you create yearbooks, DVDs, and for those embracing the web – online video all as promotional tools and yet your greatest champion was with you all summer; your campers and staff. <MORE>
